I was looking for a bag that would hold the Sony Alpha a6000 with the longer Zeiss zoom lens attached. Many of the smaller bags I considered would be perfect for this camera with the shorter 16-50 kit lens, but they were too small to accommodate the camera with mounted 16-70 zoom lens. The Vanguard 2GO15 does, with enough space left for a pancake lens.
The main compartment is divided by a removable velcro-mounted partition, and my camera/lens combo fits with the lens pointed down and the right-hand edge of the camera riding on the partition.
The construction quality seems to be good, although I wish that the pad on the shoulder strap slid along continuous strap instead of being sewn to to pieces of strap at either end. The top flap has a single one-directional zipper. It would be nice if there were also a strap latching system so that the lid could be held closed with the zipper open. The rain cover is easy to deploy and fits well, but this requires two hands and perhaps a lap to rest the bag on when reattaching the strap. The bag is well-padded.
The flap covering the zipper on the front zippered compartment blocks the movement of the zipper and the opening seems tight, so this compartment may be best used for things that you won't access all the time, spare batteries. The water bottle holder is so tight that disposable plastic 1 pt bottles will be a tight squeeze, and may crush when half empty. I'll probably use this for the lens cap or a filter in a plastic filter box. The inside top flap has an elasticized pocket that will hold an SD card case with several cards.
I can hang this bag from the D-rings on the bag onto D-rings on the shoulder straps of my backpack using two carabiners. The bag the rides right over my sternum and the camera is instantly ready for those awesome views.
As an introduction, I have a Pentax K10D with the kit lens, a Sigma 50-150 telephoto and a Sigma 10-20 Wide angle. I wanted a messenger style bag that would the camera and both lenses. I wanted a reasonable carry size and access to the equipment without having to put the bag down. The two lenses with hood attached backwards are a little over three inches across. The kit lens is about " across. I estimated that I would need about 10" across and " wide of interior space to hold this equipment.
This was my second attempt to purchase a bag to hold my equipment. It was advertised at " across but over 5 inches wide.
The Good:
The flap opens away from you so you can get the equipment out. The material and construction are just fine.
The Bad:
The inside dimensions are actually less than advertised. The dimension across is as expected but the bag narrows at the bottom to less than ". The front pocket is so tight, that you really can't put anything in it. The " tall telephoto fits but the flap for the camera is now standing vertically so the camera can't lay on it as depicted.
This would work fine with a camera and two smaller lenses. However, most autofocus zooms are to big for this bag.
