I'm a big Morakniv fan and have several different knives from them. Overall every thing I have bought that has Morakniv on it are outstanding tools for the this chisel/knife is a bit of an exception and disappointment.
The good, is that it has a nice handle, and is made for what I would call right handed can "scribe" or knife a line well for a right handed person based on the side that is is good for me.
The bad, is a bit longer list, first its too short for a lot of things I try and do, and at times the fact that it has a knife handle over a more common chisel handle, means the handle gets in the way at some point almost every time I use it.
I can understand why they kept the length on the stubby side, as you are less inclined to grab the blade as you will do while working with a longer chisel. But the fact remains its a stubby chisel, with the added benefit of a much greater chance of cutting yourself with the knife blade on its great idea, until you spend a lot of time working with chisels and understand where you put your fingers. Naturally this is not meant for hard prolonged use as a chisel, but a handy chisel to have for the odd need, and still function as a get it, but it just fails to to either job well.
Before getting this I thought it would be an outstanding addition to the tool belt, but now with a little time with it, its more of a tool box tool, handy not really worth always being on the belt. In fact my normal mora companion is a better "bang around knife" for the tool belt, which I thought this would replace.
Overall its a solid little tool that has come in handy a few times, but its come up short more times than not. Had I gotten to use one prior to buying, I would not have been sold on it, and that surprises me as much as I love my other Morakniv products.
Same mora quality handle, but not same mora quality edge. This is my 4th mora and it is nowhere near as sharp as the other 3 out of the box. The "knife" edge will not shave hair and tears paper. The chisel will shave but is not comfortable at all. The 90 degree corner is very sharp. The other moras have light tooling marks on the edge, this one has deep marks.
I believe the problem is from mora polishing the flat under side of the blade. Similar to stropping a knife at too steep of an angle. It starts to "round" the edge instead of keeping a flat, keen angle. I plan on sharpening it as you would a chisel and I don't have any doubt that it will be brought razor sharp.
Depending on how easy it is to get sharp will depend on whether I would buy another mora chisel when needed. Other than that semi-petty concern I do like the knife.
