Part showed up a day early. Watched a few youtube videos, and off I went. Total process should take about 15 minutes (took me about 30 because of a few hiccups listed below). Everything works good so far, and appears to be as nice as the original equipment.
One thing to note, some videos recommend testing the screen before putting it back together (touch works, no lines, etc). I did this, but I also tried to test the home button and it didn't work. The instructions that came with the screen said sometimes you need to swap your original home button for them to sync up. The whole point of me ordering this screen was so I didn't have to swap the home button (and other parts). LUCKILY I went back to the web and searched a little and found that the ribbon cable of the home button makes contact with 2 little tabs when you press the screen back down into the phone. YOU CANNOT test the home button without fully installing the screen. After I pushed down the screen into the phone, the button worked.
Also, for a short time, I had some white lines going down my screen. It turns out I just hadn't pushed one of the connectors down enough so I'm glad I tested before I fully re-assembled. Overall I'm happy with the result. I could probably do this again in about 5 minutes. This is the easiest screen I have replaced on an iDevice so far (2 older gen ipod touches, and a 1st gen iPad mini)
The product works as advertised, but this DID NOT COME ASSEMBLED as advertised. As such, I feel like I overpaid significantly considering that I paid a premium for the convenience of a pre-assembled product. I was able to swap out the home button, the camera, and the speaker with the help of YouTube, but if you are looking for a pre-assembled product, I highly suggest finding a different vendor. I would have returned it except it ships from China and I did not feel like waiting any longer to replace my cracked iPhone screen.
Had it come assembled, I would give this review four or maybe five stars. Item was shipped sooner than expected but since it came from overseas, it still took around 2 weeks to arrive.
The product did come with the tools necessary for the repair, and to my surprise, it also came with a tempered glass protector that you install on top of the screen. This was a nice bonus, but not enough to justify the higher price for what I thought was a pre-assembled screen.
