Look & Feel:
Feather weight. Completely plastic except for the USB connection. It seems robust enough, but I prefer the look a feel of my old "Titanium Cruzer" from ScanDisk
The space:
After running a Windows 10 "format" cmd on the drive, it reports a capacity of 231GB exFAT
The speed:
Copying a 366 MB RAR file from my HDD to the USB Drive required seconds
47 MB / second
[Note: My PC has a HDD, not an SSD so that could limit the speed]
The Encryption:
1. There is a an executable-app/file-explorer on the USB drive called: ScanDiskSecureAccess
2. Open the app/explorer, it invites you to create a password and a clue for remembering the password. Thereafter, each time the app/explorer is opened, it requires that you enter your password.
3. The app itself is a simple file explorer for viewing, dragging and dropping files to and from the USB drive. Files can be dragged into the "vault" [Encrypted] or the normal unprotected area.
4. Note: When you try access the vault via a normal file explorer app, the directories, file names and contents are all obscured. Only files stored outside of the "vault" can be accessed via a normal file explorer
Complaints about the software:
1. The app (ScanDiskSecureAccess) included on the USB drive would not open on windows 10. It crashed each time I tried to launch it I was forced to delete it, reformat the drive and download a new version from the ScanDisk
2. The software is a bit amateurish in that it generates a lot of "Not Responding" messages. The programmers need to learn about embedding long running tasks in background threads so that they do not hinder the responsiveness of the UI.
3. Also it completely locks up my PC while copying files. For example I cannot open a web browser until the copy process completes.
4. The progress dialogues are extremely inaccurate and virtually nonsensical at times. While I don't expect them to be accurate necessarily, they are wildly inaccurate.
A good product from a reliable company, the software is okay overall, but could be improved.
